| Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer are a formidable powerhouse of sound, with a repertoire of traditional and contemporary folk, old-time country and swing music. They met in 1980 and after several years of musical collaboration they formed a full time duo in 1984. Their love of traditional music has influenced their original songs. Cathy is known international- ly for the song, "NAMES", a theme for the Aids Memorial Quilt which has been recorded by over 30 artists and in several foreign countries. Marcy took 2nd place in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in 1998 out of 1500 entries for a big band swing song, "Count to Ten." Between them, Cathy and Marcy have released over thirty albums and videos. Their recordings have scored an astounding number of national awards, including 5 GRAMMY nominations. The Washington Area Music Association has awarded them 33 WAMMY awards for folk, bluegrass, instrumental and children's music. In June 2002, they celebrated the release of their 21st CD, "POSTCARDS". They have also produced recordings by Tom Paxton, Si Kahn, Grace Griffith, Bonnie Rideout and many others. They are BOTH master instrumentalists and have taught master classes in guitar, banjo, mandolin, songwriting and vocal styles at the Augusta Workshops, Steve Kaufman's guitar Camp, The Puget Sound Guitar Workshop, The Swannanoa Gathering and more! Their music embraces old-time, bluegrass, country music, women's music, western swing, contemporary folk and a broad range of social and political causes. entertainment....all through contemporary folk, country, swing and world music. They've appeared on CBS EARLY SHOW, NBC WEEKEND TODAY SHOW, NPR'S MORNING EDITION, ALL THINGS CONSIDERED AND A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION and many more! Their performance?
