One would think that with as much we've been following Pierce Pettis (20 + years!) that he would have been at Little Lake Hill LONG before now! It is with great luck and schedule juggling that he is finally here in Raleigh!! Pierce is currently working on his 9th CD and his songs have been covered by artists such as Joan Baez, Garth Brooks, Jonathan Edwards, Susan Edwards, Art Garfunkle, David Roth, Tom Kimmel, Kim and Reggie Harris (to name a couple!). Several of his CDs are under the esteemed Windham Hill label, High Street and later CDs are recorded under the Compass Records label. Pierce's music is such a wide mix of genres.... some knee-slapping blues, some folk in style,  some gospel, some fingerstyle, some haunting melodies in alternate tunings....but rest assured, that there is a story and message in his lyrics. Pierce's learning of life and love is evident in his music.

Just a 'few' comments from the editors: "Pierce Pettis doesn’t write mere songs, he writes literature...End to end the songwriting is brilliant...Pierce Pettis albums are events in my listening. His writing just gets better all the time and his singing is marvelous, wry and warm..." Sing Out!
"Don't miss a Pierce Pettis concert if he is in your area. He is a skilled performer with songs that are profound and beautifully delivered."
"Pure dynamic energy and well refined raw talent. Moving lyrics and music that ranges from sensitive to kick-a**. Pierce is awesome!"

During his long career Pettis has been a writer at Muscle Shoals Sound Studios in Alabama, recorded for Fast Folk Musical Magazine in New York, won the prestigious New Folk competition for songwriting at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas, and was a staff songwriter at Polygram and Universal Music Publishing in Nashville. He has received numerous songwriting awards including a 1999 Country Music Award from ASCAP for You Move Me --co-written with Gordon Kennedy and recorded by Garth Brooks on his album, Sevens. He now lives in his old home of Alabama and has many humorous stories to tell of his relocation there.
