BETT PADGETT
(Benefit Show for Outer Banks Lighthouse Society and Dix306)

It has been more than five years since Bett's (sold out) CD release concert at Little Lake Hill and folks have been asking for another show---SO--- she has agreed to do a benefit show. All money taken at the door will go to the Outer Banks Lighthouse Society, a non profit organization whose mission is to preserve the lighthouses of North Carolina as well as educate people about them. Bett is currently president of the Society. Dix306, a grassroots non profit whose mission is to preserve the remaining 306 acres of the Dorothea Dix campus (NC State mental hospital which is slated to close soon) as a destination park will share as the beneficiaries of this concert.

Most folks know her as a music teacher, having taught guitar at NCSU and private studios since 1978, but she is a songwriter as well! Bett released 4 CDs in five years and has been writing about her many passions for the past five years. Those would be lighthouses, NC's history and the ups and downs of life. She is currently working on three CDs! One is about NC's lighthouses, one about NC's history (entitled N.C.: A Musical History Tour) (ever heard of the Magical Mystery Tour---get it?) and one entitled My Shooting Star which will be a mix of conversational and story songs. Learning to use a home studio and a laptop has been quite challenging, but progress is going great and hopes are that the release of three new projects will be in the near future! Her music has been featured on many documentaries and CD compilations. She is listed in the N.C. Folklore Society as an artist whose music tells much of the history of our great state. You can learn more about Bett on the link about her and also hear more of her music on the Music Label link.

Style? A mixed bag of folksy bluesy popsy, sometimes sad and sometimes sassy with LOTS of story telling that's a promise!)

Have a listen to samples from the 1st 4 CDs, and hopefully, soon there will be samples of current work soon!
