BOTH SHOWS SOLD OUT

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

MARCH 24TH & 25TH

Al and Amy have 'wowed' the audiences here at Little Lake Hill two times before (check out shows #10 and #31 below). We are SO excited to have them return. We have had MANY requests for seats in the past few months. Knowing that this show will sell out due to their popularity we have asked them to do a second show on Friday the 24th of March. We anticipate BOTH of these shows to sell out. Make reservations soon! More information below.

Music and evenings at Little Lake Hill just don't get much better than this! Not only are they EXTREMELY TALENTED....     THEY'RE MARRIED!!!! Al and Amy have a long list of individually recorded CDs and an even longer list of duo CDs. Their list of awards is even LONGER! While living in the Washington, D.C. area,  they won a grand total of 50 WAMMIES from the Washington Area Music Association in the Folk, Celtic and New Age categories and 5 grants from the Maryland State Arts Council for both composition and instrumental performance.  In 2001, they won a coveted “INDIE” award in the Acoustic Instrumental category from the Association for Independent Music (now part of the Grammy organization.)  In 2005, Al received a GRAMMY Award from NARAS (National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences) for his solo fingerstyle guitar contribution to the pop instrumental compilation, “Pink Guitar.”

Al & Amy first began performing and recording together as a duo in early 1995 creating an exciting blend of contemporary, Celtic- and Appalachian influenced, original and traditional instrumental and vocal music on acoustic guitars, mandolin, vocals, Celtic harp, banjo, Irish bouzouki, piano and world percussion. They are among the most respected and well liked acts in the acoustic music scene and have been Artists In Residence at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage and perform at some of the finest concert venues in the country. Their signature sound is heard often on NPR, in independent films and on radio shows across the globe (not to mention all of the healing centers and birthing rooms.)

In the autumn of 2003, Al & Amy packed up their cats, music studio, photography equipment & art supplies and moved from Takoma Park, MD to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina near Asheville, NC.  Al & Amy’s ridge top home now provides endless inspiration for their many creative passions:  this includes music, of course, but also photography, reading, gardening, bird- and wildlife-watching, mountain-gazing and hiking.  The rich cultural and natural history of their new home has been a big influence on their recent recordings "Golden Wing", "Acoustic Journey" and "Land of the Sky – musical inspirations from the Southern Appalachians."

Al & Amy are currently Artists in Residence at Warren Wilson College.  Their residency is funded by a grant from the Susanne Marcus-Collins Foundation of Asheville, NC.  which also supported their latest creative project – the “Land of the Sky Multi-Media Show” which combines live music with projections of Al and Amy's nature photography of the Southern Appalachians.  Their photographs are part of the photo archives of the National Geographic and they are represented world-wide by the National Geographic Image Collection.   The “Land of the Sky” multi-media show debuted at the National Geographic’s Grosvenor Auditorium in the spring of 2005 and continues to be a very popular presentation. (Al was a photographer for National Geographic Society for years. Amy is currently producing a book of angel cats using her photographs and thoughtful captions for each one. Both of these artists are artists of many talents!)
There is MUCH MORE information of their individual music and art at their website!

They have produced TWO CDs since their last visit to Little Lake Hill. Please listen to selections from GOLDEN WING (featuring Amy's beautiful and not heard often enough voice!) and LAND OF THE SKY (which was influenced by their new home in the mountains of North Carolina). Also, more songs can be heard from this Celtic/Appalachian/rhythm influenced duo at show # 31 below. We never dreamed that there would be so much music and talent in this home!
