SOLD OUT IN A RECORD 36 HOURS!!!

PRESTON REED

FRIDAY, APRIL 1(NO FOOLIN!)

8:00 PM

Preston is back! He did a show for us a couple of years ago ---show # 27(sold out in one week!). He was so amazing that the crowd REFUSED TO LEAVE!!!!First-time listeners often find it impossible to believe that they're hearing just ONE musician, in real time. At full tilt, Reed's fingers, thumbs, fists and hands at once suggest a drummer, keyboardist, bassist and several guitarists at work. It's a dizzying, exhilarating phenomenon! BUT, impressions of rock bands, high-speed trains and dueling, pulling tractors are only one side of Reed. He is also a player of deep sensitivity who can compose and play a blues tune or ballad with a touch reminiscent of his great jazz piano-playing hero, Bill Evans. Drawing on blues, rock, funk and jazz influences among others, Reed weaves and melds genres, rhythms and textures to produce a signature sound that has been likened by critics to Jimi Hendrix for its emotional power and stylistic creativity.  Playing an array of guitars from acoustic to classical to electric, Reed's vast range of explosively original music will forever change your expectation of a guitarist.  He attacks the entire instrument in a never-ending search for the orchestra he knows is lurking inside.  His two hands racing up and down the fretboard in a storm of tappings, slappings and hammerings to create a rock/jazz rhythm section, melody line and chordal accompaniment simultaneously.  Preston’s live shows are full of contrasts, by turns explosive and sweetly lyrical.  His compositions extend to film soundtracks and prestigious commissions for the Minneapolis guitar Quartet. He has performed alongside Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt and many more. Since 1979 he has recorded thirteen albums and three videos.

Much has happened in Preston's musical world since he was here last. Metal by Preston Reed is the winner of the Solo Guitar Album of 2004 and Blasting Cap is winner of Solo Guitar Song of 2004 in the Just Plain Folks Awards!  He has just finished a new recording! Keep your fingers crossed that it will be ready by April 1st. Also, his 1997 release Ladies Night was re-released in 2004. So, he will bring some new music for us to take home!

Widely thought of as the world’s most gifted acoustic guitarist” Total Guitar.

"…. a major musical talent” Manchester Evening News.“  "True spellbinding guitar mastery” Guitarist Magazine . “Will drop your jaw” Playboy

There are no fancy gadgets or gimmicky FX - just 6 strings (or occasionally 12), two hands and a daring and innovative musical imagination that crosses all boundaries.

I say he is absolutely amazing! I've never seen anyone like him. There really IS magic in his hands. One of the most energetic performances on guitar I've ever seen....a show NOT to be missed!!! Have a listen yourself!
